Based on daily and monthly data of surface temperature, zonal wind and vertical velocity obtained from NCEP/NCAR reanalysis, the author will try to investigate and understand some causes of extreme warming during August 1998. The interconnection between large scale anomaly indices (such as Hadley cell, zonal index, subtropical high pressure, Indian monsoon, subtropical jet stream) and surface temperature over Egypt were studied. |
